To whom it may concern:
I became acquainted with Beth in March of 2007. Her expertise as a doula
was brought to my attention by the leader of a postpartum depression
meeting. At that time, I was receiving support from this group due to a
back injury incurred during the birth of my son and the death of my brother,
a Marine Corp. Corporal, who was killed in action in Iraq. I had also just
moved to Arlington, Virginia with my husband and children. The combination
of the stress of the move, my back injury, and the loss of my brother placed
my life in a very difficult situation with no close family or friends nearby to
assist.
Beth is an inordinately sincere, compassionate and supportive woman. It is
impossible for me to calculate or place into words the positive impact she
has had on my children and exceptional service she has provided to me.
She went well above and beyond her responsibilities as a doula for my
family. She even brought dinner to my house on several occasions to save
me from the burden of having to prepare a meal for my family. With so
much emotional stress going on in my life, I could not even think of what
things Beth should do while she was at my house as a doula. She told me
not to worry, and always took things into her own hands. She always did a
remarkable job. I don’t know how I would have made it through the past
months without her. She literally is a lifesaver. Not only have my children
bonded well with her, we have also developed a friendship. She has
become a real asset to my entire family, including my husband, who is so
happy and impressed on days that “Beth has been here.”
As a former school teacher of grades pre-K through University level
(Rutgers University) with a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to
Speakers of Other Languages), I highly recommend Beth as a doula. She
seems to be a woman of many talents. Beth has touched upon our lives in
a very positive way.
Sincerely,
Mary
